DAY 1
INTRO
We will make a brainstorming using a mind-map on the whiteboard. The students will copy it on their notebooks and they can add as many information as they want.
The Mind Map will be divided into 5 sections (this is optional). We will complete the columns 1,2 & 3 to be finished the next day. Students in the big group will give some examples to fill it. The sections could be:
1 What’s fantasy? The students will tell what words come to their mind when they think of Fantasy (they can also use their mother tongue): creativity, magic, power, dreams, spells, wizards, monsters, space, dragons...
2 Things and objects that are usually related to fantasy: i.e: magic powder, fantastic places, creatures, (here we won't name the characters)
3 Books and Movies. Which one do you remember?
4 Characters
5 Video Games. What are your favourite ones?
ACTIVITY 1
VIDEO: White Night
BEFORE WATCHING
Tell the students that they will watch a video about Fantasy, before playing the video let the students predict some things such as: How many characters will be? There will be....
WHILE WATCHING
During the video stop several times to ask the students what’s going to happen, describe the characters... (Use present tense)
AFTER WATCHING
In the end, students should write a title for the video. Give them 1 minute. This title will be set in their unit covers, at the bottom of the page.

Realism: Things that are real, that can happen. Vs Fantasy: Things that are not real
Students will read aloud from the IWB and decide if what they read is Fantasy or Realism
Realism describes things that are real, that can happen, that is true. Fantasy describes things that are not real, that cannot happen, and that is not true. Directions: Color the events below that show REALISM, blue. Colour the events below that show FANTASY, red.
